Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction

If your children have been removed from the country of their habitual residence, you have recourse to have them returned to their home country, by international law rules that apply in Quebec.

In 1980, Canada signed the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction was an international treaty signed by many countries in order to protect the best interests of children around the planet.**

In 1985, pursuant to Canada’s signature and subsequent ratification, Quebec integrated the terms of the treaty into its provincial law via An Act Respecting the Civil Aspects of International and Interprovincial Child Abduction.
