Jessica Provencher-Garand is a law student in our firm and we consider ourselves very lucky to have her join us. She was selected from among 120 students who took part in the Internship Race, a very competitive program designed to provide an internship in the workplace to the best law students in Quebec.
Prior to obtaining her law degree from the University of Ottawa, Jessica completed a bachelor's degree in political science, with honors, at the University of Ottawa.
During her studies, Jessica worked as a research assistant for various professors in the Faculty of Civil Law, deepening her knowledge of medical law and the law of individuals. Jessica was also a mentor to first-year students and co-editor of the student newspaper Le Flagrant Délit.
Jessica chose to practice family law because she wants to participate in the evolution of family law by defending complex cases reflecting the new realities of Quebec society. On a daily basis, she wants to establish strong ties with her clients in order to be able to support them in defending their interests.
If Jessica had any advice for law students, it would be the following:
"Be strict. Learn to prioritize your studies, but also yourself. Do not have a preconceived idea of law, be curious and explore different legal avenues. Practice in this area is an honor, make sure your accomplishments are done with passion and dedication. "
Jessica is also bilingual.
If she had not chosen to become a lawyer, Jessica would have become a Formula One driver.
