Me Julie-Anne Plourde is a lawyer at Goldwater, Dubé and joined the firm in 2020. She was carefully selected for an articling position at the firm during what is known as the Course aux stages, a highly regimented process where the top law firms compete to obtain the most promising young jurists from law schools across the province.
She received a Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor from McGill University Law School in 2020.
Me Plourde oriented her career towards family law and the rights of children because of its profound impact on people’s lives and their personal development. She chose a career in law because she wants to help guide people through their most intense personal conflicts and make them feel safe and advocated for.
During her studies, she worked at the Juripop Legal Clinic to help litigants in family and civil law cases, in addition to being a project manager during the summer season.
As advice to current and future law students, Julie-Anne has this to say:
“Don't just focus on the required courses in your program but take the time to explore your options while studying. It is easy to love the law given its rigour, scope and aspirational qualities, but finding the particular domain that ignites your passion requires an open spirit and honest self-reflection."
Me Plourde is fluent in French and English. If she had not chosen to become a lawyer, she would have become a professional soccer player.
